What Is Happening At The Anglican Church of St. Matthew's Dunoon

Ecumenical group at St. Dympna’s for The World Day of Prayer Service.

Believe it or not, but we are getting closer to rebuilding our church!  A couple of weeks ago we had a meeting after church to discuss the finer details of how we are aiming to have it done.  It is going to be something very special – I assure you!  When it is finished we would like everyone to come and see!  In the meantime, we continue to have our weekly services in the Uniting Church building on the corner of Fraser Road and Dunoon Road at 9.30am every Sunday. Of course, everyone is welcome!
On the evening of March 6th several of us joined the members of the Catholic Church at St Dympna’s for ‘The World Day of Prayer’ Service.  This year, the Service had been prepared by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Papua New Guinea; the aim was to promote the idea that ‘In Christ We Are Many Members, Yet one Body’.  Instead of having a speaker this year, the members of St Dympna’s Church gave us a Power Point Presentation explaining the hopes and fears as well as the way of life of the people of Papua New Guinea particularly those who live in Bougainville. It showed us how the women of Bougainville were instrumental in the peace process which followed fifteen years of civil unrest. The money given that evening in Collection has been forwarded to The World Day of Prayer Committee.  The supper afterwards was to St Dympna’s very high standard and the fellowship as well as the good tucker made for a very interesting conclusion to the evening.
