Sad Day.

Dear Editor,
Council recently undertook road repairs just up over the crest of the hill North of Fraser Road. They took down a sign I had erected a few years ago – ‘Concealed Driveway Over Crest’. I went to a lot of trouble to get the sign erected with a signed petition from over 50 residents, neighbours and farm workers. The entrance to my residence is extremely dangerous when cars, 4 x 4’s and trucks come hurtling over the hill towards Dunoon village. I have nearly been cleaned up several times.

I’ve rang the Council to re-install warning signs, though it is too late as my mini-foxy little ‘Scottie Dog’ was killed near my driveway a few weeks ago. I miss him dearly.

I’d like to say thank you to the man who came to my house to tell me he was dead and that he’d buried Scottie Dog under a pile of woodchips on the fence line. I was so grateful for your actions as I was getting a worker on the farm to scoop the woodchip pile up and put it on my garden once the weather fined up. I would’ve been devastated to find Scottie Dog amongst it all. Once again, thank you for taking time out to inform me about Scottie Dog, you did a good thing.

Could ALL road users PLEASE take care coming over the crest of the hill. Next time it could be a person who gets hit.

Hello Dunoon From London!

Dear Editor,
my cousin in North Lismore often sends copies of The Dunoon & District Gazette, just to keep me updated on what is happening in sleepy rural Australia. It’s a great read and a lovely insight into village life. I can truly say that I really do envy your lifestyle and community spirit which is sadly lacking, in not only a great metropolis such as London, but in other towns and cities all over the globe.
What a terrible shame that all of this is under threat. Let’s hope against hope that your piece of paradise will not be ruined for future generations by inappropriate development.
