The end of term two crept up quickly, as we were immersed in a plethora of special activities and happenings. We capped off the final week of term with a music concert, then an afternoon tea picnic in our back garden. The picnic provided an opportunity for parents to view the evolving garden layout. Green Corps and Jo are transforming the space into a kitchen garden. Today the first plants went in: a variety of herbs, lettuces, peas, lavender and daisies, just to name a few. The children appreciate any opportunity to get their hands into water and soil, and soon Jo had many willing gardeners assisting. The preschool community is very excited about the project and the benefits it will bring to the children. I’ll keep you informed on the garden in the coming months.
The last term was busy with a burst of activity in the last few weeks. Music played an integral part of our programme last term, with Matt providing two classes a week. It’s very special having our own piano player. Matt will continue with the music programme this term.
Kael, from the Northern Rivers Conservatorium joined us again last term, providing a rich array of musical and movement experiences. Joanna, an early childhood yoga instructor, provided an afternoon of yoga based on a sea theme, which coincided nicely with Alex Hood’s Deep Blue Sea Show.
Dunoon Public School is continuing to join us this term, as part of their community projects initiative. The preschool children enjoy their visits and plead with them not to leave. The transition to school for our children will be a much smoother venture with the knowledge that they already have school buddies.
Until next time
