Anti Land Mine Fundraiser

Happy with their successful fundraiser - organisers Christine Russell, Warren Rose and Donna Rose.

Organisers of the Metal Detectors for Cambodia fundraiser, held recently (14th June) at Dunoon Community Hall , announced the day as a success with $2700.00 raised, enough for one metal detector associated de-mining equipment to assist Vietnam Veteran, Tony ‘Bomber’ Bower-Miles in his efforts to equip and train de-miners in Cambodia.
‘We were delighted to see the keen interest and support for this project,’ said Christine Russell, one of the organisers. ‘Bomber is currently in Cambodia training de-miners and this support will go a long way to helping remove some of the six million mines scattered across a country approximately the size of Tasmania.’
‘We want to stress however, that although we reached our targeted amount on the day, the need for funds is on-going,’ Christine added, ‘I hope others will be inspired by Bomber’s work and will look at ways to help him.’
